The purpose of the assessment activity was to collect and analyse baseline information about the existing capacity in Kiswahili entities in EAC Partner States with a view to finding out their ability and capability to develop and use Kiswahili for sustainable development and regional integration.

This Strategic Plan has been developed by the East African Kiswahili Commission to define the direction it will take in the next five years and to act as a guide on how it will travel the journey of executing its mandate in an evolving and dynamic socio-economic and political environment. The Mandate of the Commission is to coordinate and promote the development and use of Kiswahili as a lingua franca and official language in the East African Community (EAC) Partner States in terms of research, teaching, learning and development through policy formulation, knowledge generation and curriculum review and standardization of terminologies
In order to facilitate the popularization, learning and singing of the EAC Anthem by the people of East Africa, this simple booklet containing the basic information pertaining to the EAC Anthem has been developed. In this booklet you will find the; (i) the East African Community Anthem text whose words and music are specified in the 4th Schedule of the Community Emblems (Amendment) Act 2011), (ii) Anthem guidelines, (iii) the popular version music score of the Anthem, (iv) the Choral Music Score of the Anthem, (v) the Brass band Music Score of the Anthem, and (vi) contact addresses of the Ministries responsible for EAC Affairs in the EAC Partner States. It is our sincere hope that the content of this booklet will serve a useful purpose of guiding the East African Community citizens to learn and sing their regional Anthem with pride
